Reading blog 6

I have attented Bowling Green State University and now Owens they both use the same things to interpelate me into a paticular role as a student. At Bowling Green i had many Lecture style classes where there would be rows and rows of students. the professor would be far away all the way in the front at a desk fourtimes the size of ours. Usually they have a projector so everyone can see the lesson and a mic so everyone could here. Us the students have our books pencil, paper, bookbag all things required to learn and take good notes. All of those things put us in the student role. The teacher is always at the head of the class the one in charge which  which shape there social position. All of these things would make u assume the one sitting down taking notes has to be the student trying to get where the one who is standing infront of the class is which has to be the teacher.

  1. The role of a student is different then that of a teacher. Teachers have all the power and the students none, the teacher decided everyones fate without discussion. Which is what I believe to be the dividing factor of a teacher and student (other then education). But why to you think lecture hall or so big? MONEY is the real reason. The main point of this assignment I see it as a way for us the students to understand how the class room is like real life power and money is what seperates everyone.

  2. I agree with Amanda the role of the teacher and student are way to different things. The students have little to no power. They have the power to what kind of grade the recieve by the effort they put forth in class, but the teacher has all of the power in the class room. And yes they have the bigger classrooms because of the money they have.
